Custom-made wedding bouquet paintings-- celebrating love, unity and promise

Custom-made wedding bouquet watercolor paintings that reflect the beauty & celebration of their marriage-- an original wedding present suitable for any couple.

The bouquet is the special symbol of promise in marriage. Let this promise become a one-of-a-kind beloved keepsake, a forever-fresh original painting for the newlywed’s home with the couple's name & date included.

(Also a thoughtful anniversary gift.)

I create watercolor paintings based on photos of the wedding bouquet.

Working from photos, I lightly sketch a detailed drawing of the bouquet onto watercolor paper in graphite pencil. To further personalize this artwork, I include the couple’s names and wedding date in the design. The font style can be replicated from a wedding invitation or other requested style. Then I create the watercolor painting, reflecting the hue and color intensities of the bouquet.

Middle East / middle-west

It has been nearly a year since our departure from the Middle East.

And our return to the Middle-west.

It was April 2014.

Bare trees. Eager robins.

(Winter-weary neighbors spurned the April snow-flurries our tongues were quick to catch.)

Trees drew bold, expansive lines against the sky.

There was no dust. No cracked, beaten surface.

Instead---
open puddles / a verdant birth / umbrellas aloft

and the racing rhythm of rain to prompt our blush.

It has been nearly a year since our departure from the Middle East

and our return home.

IndiAnimalia (solo exhibit now at Irvington Branch Library, Indianapolis, IN)

IndiAnimalia includes thirteen species from Marion County’s Threatened, Endangered and Rare Species list (DNR).  Some of these animals live right here in Eagle Creek Park. Some are visitors, traveling through the area.

Creating these pieces helped me become acquainted with these animals and their fragile habitats. I asked questions like, Where do these animals live? What are their needs? How do we provide sanctuary for these animals? As I “made space” for the animals on my paper and cut shapes for them to “inhabit,” I thought about how we shape, transform and affect natural habitats.
Through my art, I hope to articulate something that honors these animals and their habitats. I hope you find something both familiar and beautiful-- IndiAnimalia.

"Channels of Communication" --my triptych for the Domestic Violence Network exhibit and auction

On March 6th, the Domestic Violence Network  http://dvnconnect.org/
will host an opening reception and silent auction for the exhibition, "Showing Hope," at the Athenaeum Art Space.

Artists were invited to create and donate work exploring the theme of domestic violence from any perspective (individual, community, adult, child).

Here is my submission, "Channels of Communication": (click for larger view)

My hope is that this piece offers multiple perspectives, that viewers read the images from whichever point-of-view most directly connects with their needs. These images might ask, Are we available to listen to each other? Is Someone bearing witness? Is my own voice willing?

I included various elements of nature to emphasize spiritual resources: strength, trust, wisdom, beauty, love, renewal.

After I work out my design, I use a fingertip razor to cut the shapes. Then I paint the cut-paper with black acrylic paint and trace my design onto watercolor paper. Finally, I mount the cut-paper onto my watercolor painting.

Click on each image below for a closer look.

This framed triptych will be up for auction on March 6th (6pm-9pm) and on display throughout March at the Art Space at the Athenaeum
401 East Michigan Street Indianapolis, IN 46204

Open to the public.
